Eureka! I've figured it out! A cozy home for my writing and personalized updates concerning the adventures within my mind. A few years ago, I had a blog dedicated specifically to my writing (posted excerpts, ect.) but deleted it (regretfully). I do have a lifestyle blog I update occasionally, but never felt like my writing "fit" there.
However, my friends, a new dawn has risen. More than words can express, I long to share my intimacies with dialogue, character, action, and thought. I hope you'll come with me on this journey. After all, it's the journey that counts, not the destination, yes? (:
With that warm and ecstatic introduction, let's get to it, shall we? I'm currently working on my first ever young adult novel. I read an excerpt from it two Wednesdays ago while at an informal get together with other Utah writers (Carol Lynch Williams and Ann Dee Ellis--AMAZING). I must admit it was terrifying. I haven't read my own words aloud in years. Not since taking Carol's Creative Writing class in Winter 2012 at BYU. As a playwright, I've become content in my letting actors read the emotional subtext of the dialogue and create the pictures in my head through a director's careful blocking. Why do I have to write a character's thoughts and actions in fiction? WHY I ASK YOU.
It may be a challenge, but I'm finally ready to tackle it. This week will be dedicated to fleshing out my character profiles, their backgrounds, and their relationships with one another. Figuring out the story I want to tell. I may come up with a regular schedule: Monday-INSPIRATION//MOTIVATION, Wednesday-WRITING UPDATE, and Friday-EXCERPT DAY.
Come with me. Chase your dream and find a place for your head as I do the same.
